#The Power Of Action

SUMMARY

Taking action every single day is a major discipline that leads you to progress. Practicing them everyday increases your self-worth.

It does not matter how small or how insignificant the activity is, but it is within these obscure but important disciplines that the greatest opportunities exist.

Unless we learn to take care of the little opportunities that come our way, we will never be able to master the disciplines of becoming happy or prosperous. The major accomplishments in life begin with mastering these.

The idea is to work on one’s discipline by taking daily minuscule actions which is when success really begins to kick off.

Do not allow any error in judgement to make you think that letting things slide would not make any major difference to your life.

And finally, harnessing the power of imagination to your benefit, you can always ponder and imagine the huge possibilities that life has to offer.

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE

FULL TRANSCRIPT

Let’s talk about action today. As Jim Rohn says, of all the disciplines that lead you to progress, taking action is one of them. Everyone of us has a mental list of the ‘Should haves’:

I should have communicated this to my parents someday

I should have told him long ago how much I really cared for him

I should have called the creditor and told the truth last month

I should have started my exercise program a year ago

I should have followed that diet a month ago

We often have these continuous recurring statements.

But the truth is, we can go to work on the basics any day and begin with any one activity that starts the process of self-discipline. Because the joy that comes from one small achievement starts rolling the miracle process for you.

The earliest inspiration for this comes from the practice of new and simple discipline, that starts a process called `soaring self worth’. So, it does not matter how small or how insignificant the activity is, but it is within these obscure but important disciplines that the greatest opportunities exist. So, this kind of simple progress will build a ladder, which would lead us out the abyss of failure and neglect that would once have been our dwelling place. And with each new discipline, we would have constructed a new path that will help you climb out of the darkness where all the failures, complainers, confused and misguided reside, to tell the sad story of their life, of how bad and unfair it is.

But however difficult it might seem to you, building this ladder is easy, literally. The smallest of disciplines when practised every single day, starts an incredible process that can change our lives forever.

Unless we learn to take care of the little opportunities that come our way, we will never be able to master the disciplines of becoming happy or prosperous. The major accomplishments in life begin with mastering these. The magic lies in these small disciplines, the mental, emotional, philosophical muscles that are required to follow that exercise program and that diet, to write that love letter to your beloved one or clean your wardrobe or play your bills on time. These are the very same muscles that are involved in running a company or managing a big department of an organization. Because we cannot do these bigger things until we do the smaller ones. We cannot rule the whole nation unless we rule ourselves. You cannot design your future unless and until you have re-designed your habits. And you cannot increase your rewards unless and until you increase frequency of these small actions.

The idea is to work on one’s discipline. Taking daily minuscule actions is the key. This is where success really begins to kick off. All of the great rewards of life are available to us if look into them, but only if we discipline ourselves to walk through the early stages of building our growth muscles without neglecting any of these smaller actions. Because you cannot permit yourself on any activity to rob you of your future health, wealth and lifestyle.

Neither can you allow any error in judgement to make you think that letting things slide would not make any major difference to your life. That’s a folly. Can we say to ourselves that “This is the only area where I am going to let myself down in terms of self discipline. Other wise I am okay.”? No way!

It doesn’t work that way. Because saying “this only area” will begin the process of eroding of our disciplines in all other areas. This is a proven thing. So, one of the greatest challenges facing us remains the discipline to take small daily actions.

And since we find ourselves surrounded by multiple distractions quite too often, the discipline to maintain the right attitude tops everything else. We need this to convert our dreams into plans, our plans into goals and our goals into those small little actions that lead us one small step at a time for a better future.

And finally, talking about taking smaller actions, one cannot ignore the power of imagination. We can always ponder and imagine the huge possibilities that life has to offer. We can keep telling ourselves of what is possible for us, and then keep challenging ourselves with what is impossible.

An ancient warrior once wrote: “It is better to aim your spear at the moon and strike and eagle, than aiming the eagle and striking only a rock.” Though this may sound cliched, but this is immensely powerful when it comes to your imaginary powers.

Maintaining small disciplines is the power that gives substance and meaning to our life, our philosophy and our attitude. Taking intelligent, planned and consistent actions will help us create new energies and keep us moving forward toward the exciting future that we have imagined. And that is the same future that our thoughts and desires have already designed for us.

I wish you all the best in taking these smaller actions. That’s the way to go.
